Tey-tu!
Do you remember that impatient little voice inside you when you were small? Hands opening and closing like starfish, eyes fixed on one perfect tangerine that Tatay held just out of reach?
“Tey-tu!” I would cry, bouncing on my toes. “Maghintay, Anak,” Tatay would answer, soft and steady, like he had all the time in the world.
I didn’t understand then why waiting felt so big. But under the maliwanag na buwan, something quiet happened. The moon smiled down — not laughing at me, but with me — as if she knew the tangerine would taste sweeter because I had to wait for it.
That night taught me what I still carry: patience isn’t empty time. It’s space where gratitude can grow.
Years later, far from those province steps, I still catch myself whispering “Tey-tu!” when life holds something just beyond my fingers. And I still hear Tatay’s voice… and see Lady Moon’s gentle wink.
This little blog is my way of remembering those nights — and maybe reminding you of yours.
Here at Lola-Nanay, we share stories and art that feel like family: the memoir Sa Ilalim ng Maliwanag na Buwan, smiling Lady Moon prints, and small things made with the same love Tatay taught me.
If you have your own “Tey-tu!” memory, I’d love to hear it. Drop a comment below — let’s sit under the moon together for a while. 🌕🍊
With love, Seph
